Thursday morning had an unexpected start for Salisbury resident Tammy Kirkley Boyd.
Boyd, who was asleep in her apartment, heard popping noises and thought someone was trying to break in through her bedroom window, according to a news release from the Salisbury Police Department. Police received the call just before 7 a.m., the news release said.
Police said Boyd discovered that she had been shot in her feet. She was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Police said Thursday afternoon that Boyd was expected to be treated and released.
Salisbury Police spokeswoman Shelia Lingle said investigators are following up on leads.
