Margaret Thompson-Shumate of Salisbury provided these photographs related to A.T. Allen Elementary School, once located at the corner of East Innes and North Long streets. Today, the Yadkin Bank does business on that corner. Above, is an exterior picture of the school. Below are members of the A.T. Allen Student Council for the 1954-55 school year. Thompson-Shumate is the girl at the far right of the first row. The student council members pictured include first row, left to right: Jerry Sides, Betsy Hannold, Hal Coggins, Robbie Lineberger, Larry Wagoner, Ronnie Poston and Margaret Thompson.
