Two Kannapolis men charged in theft at Rent-a-Center, chase, wrecks

KANNAPOLIS — Two men were arrested after reports of gunshots fired, a brief chase and at least two accidents.
Willie El’Beehard Anthony, 20, and Jamarqua Antonio Davis, 16, were captured after a vehicle and foot chase. Both face a number of charges.
About 2 a.m. Wednesday, Kannapolis police got a call about someone firing shots into the Rent-a-Center store at 906 S. Cannon Blvd. Officers saw two men trying to put a TV into a vehicle.
The two then jumped into separate vehicles and collided with each other as they tried to leave the parking lot. Both vehicles went south in the northbound lanes of South Cannon Boulevard.
The vehicles were involved in separate crashes a short distance away, and both suspects fled on foot.
Anthony was charged with breaking and entering; felony larceny; possession of a stolen vehicle; possession of a stolen firearm; resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer; hit and run; felony fleeing to elude police; and no operator’s license.
Davis was charged with breaking and entering; felony larceny; possession of a stolen vehicle; possession of marijuana; injury to real property; resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer; hit and run; failure to heed blue lights or siren; and no operator’s license.
In their investigation, officers discovered that the cars both men were driving had been stolen in China Grove. Additional charges are pending related to the stolen vehicles.
Both men are being held in the Cabarrus County Detention Center.
