A 44-year-old man has been charged with having sexual relations with children under the age of 15.

According to an emailed news release from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Mateo Campos, of 4445 Jack Brown Road, Salisbury, was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of felony first-degree sexual offense and one count of felony indecent liberties with a child.

In their investigation, detectives were able to link Campos to another sexual offense that occurred in 2011. The cases involve more than one child victim all younger than 15.

Campos is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. The investigation continues and additional charges are possible, authorities said.
