Kannapolis man faces felony hit and run charges in pedestrian death

KANNAPOLIS — A Kannapolis man has been charged in a May 19 hit-and-run that resulted in the death of 36-year-old Stacey Barnette.
According to officials, on the evening of May 19, the Kannapolis Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit received a tip about the possible location of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run traffic crash. Officers responded to the address provided by the tipster and were assisted by members of the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Department.
After speaking with the homeowner and examining the vehicle, officers arrested Joshua Eugene Bolton, 41, of 3751 Centergrove Road at his residence.
Bolton was charged with felony hit-and-run and placed in the Cabarrus County jail under a $25,000 secured bond.
The crash is still under investigation, Kannapolis authorities said.
