Fire guts home off Owl Drive; lightning could be cause

SALISBURY — The Franklin and Ellis Cross Country fire departments fought a Friday night fire that heavily damaged a double-wide mobile home in the 200 block of Owl Drive, which is located off Gheen Road.
A lightning strike at the home could have been the cause, according to an initial reports.
The Red Cross was called in to assist four adults who lived at the home, which was engulfed in flames as firefighters arrived. No one was hurt.
Franklin Fire Department was the lead in fighting the fire. Ellis Cross Country set up a water point near Apple Baking Co. and pumped several thousand gallons from a pond.
The fire happened just after 9 p.m.
