Rowan weather: Little sun this week

A few rainy days will be in store this week, starting with today, with an 80 percent chance of showers before 11 a.m., then scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.

The main weather threat over the next two days is heavy rain, with storms that will stay in the same area for an extended period. A few of the storms could become severe, with downburst winds the main threat.

The high will be 84, with southwest wind at 5-11 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph. A tenth to quarter inch of rain is possible.

Tonight we’ll see scattered showers and thunderstorms before 3 a.m. that will continue into Tuesday morning. The chance of rain is 50 percent, and it will be cloudy, with a low of 70. Another tenth to quarter inch of rain is possible.

Showers and thunderstorms will start the day Tuesday, then there will be a period of showers between 7 and 10, followed by thunderstorms after 10. It will be mostly cloudy and 79, with west northwest wind around 6 mph shifting to the north. The chance of rain is 50 percent, with a quarter to half an inch possible.

Tuesday night will have a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, with mostly showers after midnight. It will be mostly cloudy and 66, with calm wind.

We get a bit of a break Wednesday, when the chance of showers is just 20 percent. It will be mostly cloudy and 81 with northeast wind at 5-8 mph. Wednesday night also has a 20 percent chance of showers, with a low of 67.

Thursday will have a 30 percent chance of showers after noon, with a high of 79. The chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night will be 40 percent, with storms mainly between 3 and 5 a.m. The low will be 68.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday is 50 percent, with mostly cloudy skies and a high of 81. The same chance of rain is possible Friday night, with a low of 68.

Saturday will be partly sunny and 84, but also have a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The chance of rain increases to 50 percent Saturday night, with a low of 69.

And Sunday will have a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high of 85 and mostly cloudy skies.
