SALISBURY — Police say few details were provided about a shooting at a West Layfayette Street home early Saturday morning.
A 48-year-old woman was shot in the shoulder and arm and grazed by a bullet on the side of her face.
The Salisbury Police Department said the woman had gone to bed just after her son came home in the 300 block of West Lafayette Street. She said about 15 minutes later, someone rang her door bell. She partially opened the door and saw a black man standing in her yard who raised his hand. All she heard was a “pop, pop, pop,” said police Capt. Shelia Lingle.
The woman was shot in the left bicep and left shoulder and a bullet grazed her left ear, she said.
She was conscious and walking around when police officers arrived. Police officials say the woman was holding a towel to the side of her head when officers arrived. She was taken to the hospital.
She described her attacker as a light-skinned black man weighing about 190 pounds, with a slim build. She estimated his height to be about 5 foot 8 inches tall. She said he had short hair and was wearing a multicolored plaid shirt and yellow or orange pants.
