Area Sports Briefs: Salisbury, South get CCC tennis wins

Salisbury’s tennis team stayed undefeated Wednesday with a 9-0 win over Central Davidson in the Central Carolina Conference.
Maria Capito won 6-0, 6-0; Julia Honeycutt won 6-0, 6-0; Emma Nianouris won 6-0, 6-0; Lilly Rusher won 6-0, 6-0; Meredith Burton won 6-0, 6-0, and Bethanie Stauffer won 6-0. 6-1.
Doubles winners were Capito/Nianouris (8-0), Stauffer/Burton (8-1) and Rachel Seifert-Skye Mowery (8-5).

South Rowan won, 7-2, against CCC opponent Oak Grove on Wednesday.
Singles winners for South were Kaitlyn McCombs, Lauren Shell, Brianna Weatherwax, Jamie Minehart and Angelina Palacios.
McCombs/Weatherwax and Minehart/Emma Leazer won in doubles.

In South’s 5-4 loss to North Davidson, Weatherwax won at No. 4 singles, while Leazer won at No. 6.
McCombs/Weatherwax won at No. 2 doubles. Minehart/Leazer won at No. 3 doubles.
Prep soccer
Central Davidson topped East Rowan on Wednesday, 8-2, in a non-conference match.
Landon Ketchie scored a goal for East. Alex Kalogeromitros assisted. East’s other score game on an own goal off a corner kick by Kalogeromitros.
Prep volleyball
Carson’s volleyball team swept North Davidson on Wednesday.
Carson (3-1) rolled 25-12, 25-10 and 25-19.
Prep cross country
The Pre-County Meet is today at Dan Nicholas Park.
The boys race is at 5 p.m., while the girls race at 5:45 p.m.
Intimidators
Luis Gonzalez tied the franchise record with two triples, but the Kannapolis Intimidators lost to Greensboro, 9-3, on Wednesday.
