Progress: A beautiful thing
Over the past two years our Evergreen game has grown to a point that we consistently have 7-8 tables in play.
But the most amazing turn of events is the mushrooming attendance at the Women’s Club game. For the past five years we were struggling to keep the game alive. We limped along with 2.5-3 tables in play and I came close to burying the game for lack of interest in it.
Over the past year and especially the last four months, we have had the infusion of new players and the return of old friends, adding 12 regular players to our group. We now have 7-8 tables in play on Tuesdays. Not only has attendance improved but the level of play has also improved.
So many players are students of the game regularly attending lessons given by Harold and Carol Winecoff, Dick Brisbin and Ron Jeffers. Four of them have attained Life Master status and many are climbing the advancement ladder, getting closer to their Life Master level.
The games are lively and challenging. They have progressed from “sleepy little games” to ones in which I as director am often given challenging problems to solve. I find I must study to improve my skills and sometimes struggle to keep up. I will take this challenge any time.
