SALISBURY — Leah Bowers Milam, 28, of Faith Road, was charged Friday with five counts of obtaining property by false pretense after she allegedly used her grandmother’s checkbook.
According to warrants, Milam got ahold of her grandmother’s checkbook in August, and used it to make several purchases without her grandmother’s knowledge or consent. Most of the purchases were between $20 and $30.
Milam was arrested Saturday, charged with obtaining property by false pretense and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center. She was also charged with probation violation and possession of drug paraphernalia after police allegedly discovered a “small blue baggy” and a cut up straw on her person.
In other magistrate office reports:
- Draven Cade Ramsey, 16, of Salisbury, was arrested Saturday and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle. According to warrants Ramsey stole a 2004 Ford Super Duty truck worth approximately $12,000.
- Nicholas Andrew Webster, 29, of Salisbury, was charged Friday with misdemeanor assault on a child under 12 and misdemeanor child abuse, after he allegedly pushed and hit a 6-year-old with a motor vehicle. Warrants say the child suffered scrapes on his face, back, elbow and head.
- Jessica Lynn Lilley, 26, of Rockwell, was charged Sunday with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
