FAITH — A Saturday shooting brought Sheriff’s deputies to a home off Mount Hope Church Road, near Faith, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies received a call for a possible disturbance or shooting at the residence at about 10 p.m. When they arrived, they found Dusty Bryant, 35, with a bullet wound in his left knee. That was his only injury, the sheriff’s office reports. Granite Quarry and Faith police assisted in the call.
Bryant was transported to NorthEast Medical Center by Rowan County EMS for treatment of his non-life threatening injury.
As the investigation progressed, deputies found that the shooting began as a dispute between neighbors. Bryant’s neighbor, Joshua Daniel Harrington, 26, was identified as being involved in the incident. Harrington lives at 4595 Mount Hope Church Road.
According to deputies, the dispute began over allegations that Joshua Harrington was shining a flashlight at the Bryant residence. Bryant and his wife Carla reportedly went to the Harrington residence to confront Joshua about the issue, and that is when Bryant was shot.
Deputies seized a Smith & Wesson .380 handgun from Harrington, and one magazine for evidence, along with several shell casings collected from the crime scene.
The investigation is still underway, and investigators will present the evidence and facts of the case to the Rowan County District Attorney on Monday.
