CONCORD – Concord Water Resources crews will close Kannapolis Highway (29A) in both directions at Interstate 85 for an emergency water line repair this evening.

The closure will begin at about 7  tonight (Tuesday) and will last throughout the evening.

City water customers in the vicinity of Kannapolis Highway and Winecoff School Road north of I-85 may experience a short-term water outage during the repair work.

The greatest impact associated with the work will be the closure of the highway and detour of all traffic using Winecoff School Road, Davidson Highway (N.C. 73), and Central Drive Northwest.

The emergency repairs are necessary because of a water leak caused by the recent low temperatures. Crews are reacting quickly to prevent potentially hazardous road conditions overnight, city officials said.
