SALISBURY — Salisbury Police report that a home on Cherry Street was shot into just minutes after midnight on New Year’s Day. The home, in the 700 block of Cherry Street, was also the site of an assault earlier in the evening.

On New Year’s Eve, residents reported an assault involving a golf club. The resident involved in the altercation suffered a cut on his or her leg, but refused EMS services, police spokesman Lieutenant Greg Beam said.

Approximately four hours later, just after bells and cheers rung in the new year, a car drove by and fired several shots into the home. No one was injured.

Salisbury police are still investigating.

“No one actually saw the shooting, so we don’t know if it’s related or not,” Beam said.
