Salisbury Police charged a local man with assault after receiving calls about shots fired on Freedom Drive.
Jalyn Manquel McCombs, 21, of 100 block of East Horah Street, Apt. 4, was charged with misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor communicating threats, misdemeanor injury to personal property, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Police said calls came in around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday. An altercation occurred between McCombs and a woman at the home.
Police received a description of the vehicle, a Mini Cooper, and stopped the vehicle on West Jake Alexander Boulevard.
A police report said McCombs was driving. He had a gun in the car and a small bag of marijuana that weighed .01 grams.
A vehicle at the Freedom Drive location had a broken window. It’s not clear if the window was broken by a bullet or if McCombs may have punched the window. Police said he did have a cut to his hand.
He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center without bond because of the domestic nature of the incident.
