SALISBURY — A man wanted for stealing meat from The Smoke Pit restaurant in downtown Salisbury has turned himself in.
Harry Wilson Long III was arrested Monday morning after surrendering at the Salisbury Police Department.
Long had been wanted on three counts of breaking and entering and three counts of larceny after breaking and entering for the thefts.
Police reported in December that more than $5,000 worth of meat was stolen from the barbecue restaurant. A locked freezer was broken into three times, the Police Department said. One theft occurred on Christmas Eve, a report said.
The charges were investigated by the Salisbury Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit. A police statement offered thanks to the public for tips in the investigation.
Long was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond. His first appearance is set for Wednesday.
