SALISBURY — After heavy snowfalls shuttered schools for several days in January, students and teachers waited with bated breath to see when — and if — makeup days would be.
Schools were closed Jan. 17, 18 and 19 after a winter storm dumped several inches of snow on the ground and ice covered the roads.
On Wednesday, Rowan-Salisbury Schools announced that students will have to make up two of the three snow days. The third day has been waived by Superintendent Lynn Moody.
One of the days, Jan. 22, has already passed. Originally scheduled as a teacher workday, the school system opted to use it as a snow makeup day to avoid further delaying exams or the start of the second semester.
The next makeup day will be Feb. 19, which was also originally scheduled as a teacher workday. Students and teachers will attend school as normal on that day.
Rowan County Early College will make up its missed days at the end of its school year, on May 22 and 23.
