SALISBURY — A local teenager was charged Monday with more than a dozen additional counts stemming from recent break-ins, a day after he was charged with vehicle break-ins that spanned the month of January.

In the latest charges, Anthony Mason Cunningham, 18, of the 1000 block of French Lane, faces nine counts of felony breaking and entering vehicles; one count of misdemeanor breaking and entering vehicles; one count of felony larceny; and three counts of misdemeanor larceny.

Warrants say on Jan. 10, Cunningham took restaurant gift cards from a vehicle parked at a home on Menius Road in China Grove and broke into a 2010 Ford pickup and a 2011 Ford Expedition, parked on the same road. The day before, Cunningham is accused of breaking into a Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2012 Toyota Camry, both on Acorn Oaks Drive in Salisbury.

On Jan. 9, warrants show a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup on Safrit Road was broken into. At the same address on Jan. 15, authorities said, Cunningham took $1,000 from a 2012 Volkswagen GTI.

On Jan. 11, Cunningham broke into a 2016 Nissan Frontier and a 2016 Toyota Corolla on Pamela Street in China Grove, according to warrants. Authorities say a pocket knife, umbrella and flashlight, all valued at $30, were stolen.

He also is charged with breaking into a 2016 Dodge Durango on Jan. 17 on Heathrow Drive in Spring Lake in Cumberland County.

Cunningham was arrested Friday on 20 counts that included felony breaking and entering, felony larceny of a firearm and misdemeanor larceny. Those incidents occurred between Jan. 9 and Jan. 22, authorities say.

He was initially held under a $50,000 secured bond, but that was increased by $10,000.

Cunningham, who was on probation for a 2015 offense of breaking and entering, was arrested in October for a vehicle and home break-in.

In that incident, authorities found Cunningham in possession of a rifle that they said he stole in a break-in. Officers were led to Cunningham when he began firing the gun while they were in the neighborhood investigating the break-ins.
