Scholarship available
The annual Michael A. DeMayo Scholarship program is an exciting opportunity for local high school seniors to have a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship toward their college education. The firm will be awarding a total of $37,500 in college scholarships to 15 high school seniors who reside and attend schools in counties served by the firm, including: Cabarrus, Rowan, Stanly and Iredell.
To qualify, students must have applied for full-time enrollment at a four-year university or college and must complete and return a scholarship application to the DeMayo Law Offices by March 26. Scholarships will be awarded based on the student’s video PSA presentation on the dangers of underage drinking and driving, as well as their application, SAT scores, transcripts and letters of recommendation. Please visit www.demayolaw.com/scholarship-program/ for program details.
American Association of University Women scholarships available
The Salisbury branch of American Association of University Women is pleased to announce that it will again offer scholarships to two female students from this area to attend the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders.
The annual conference brings together college women to address important and contemporary leadership issues. It provides a transformative
experience for attendees, and students return home ready to improve their campuses and their communities.
At the conference student leaders will: meet association honorees at the women of Distinction Awards Ceremony, hear nationally recognized keynote speakers, develop skills by attending workshops, take part in pre-conference activities and community service projects and enjoy opportunities to network with other women leaders from around the country. The Conference will take place May 30 – June 2 at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
Students may apply for the local association Salisbury affiliate scholarships to cover registration, room and board; but are encouraged to apply first for a National scholarship to cover these conference expenses in which case local scholarship monies may be used for travel. Apply by Feb. 15 at https://www.nccwsl.org/
Qualifications: Female applicants must be from Rowan County or attending school in Rowan County, and a college sophomore or junior with at least a 2.5 GPA. If awarded, they may be required to attend a scholarship meeting and make a presentation at an association meeting.
