Police Blotter: Man arrested on Fisher Street after running from police

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man is facing multiple charges after police say he ran from officers and threw away a handgun.
According to reports, police responded to 420 S. West St. after a complaint call about a resident, Antoine Lamont Cowan, 36. But when police officers arrived, Cowan wasn’t there.
An hour later, another call came in. When officers arrive the second time, Cowan was on the property but he ran when he saw officers.
After a chase on foot, Cowan was arrested in the 700 block of West Fisher Street. Police also found a .38 Special revolver at the bottom of a pool Cowan had run by. Firefighters put on wetsuits to retrieve the weapon.
Cowan was charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer, weapons possession by a felon and carrying a concealed gun. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond.

• Sonic reported counterfeit bills Thursday.
In Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:
• Juan Portain Diaz, 67, was charged Wednesday with attempted statutory rape.
