SALISBURY — A 22-year-old East Spencer man has been charged with raping a teenage girl during a sleepover, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

Diamonte Denolan Crawford, of the 800 block of North Long Street, was charged Saturday with felony indecent liberties with a child and felony statutory rape of a child.

The assault occurred April 6. Authorities received a report on April 13 that a young girl was sexually assaulted by someone that was known to her family. Investigators obtained a search warrant and investigated, officials said.

Crawford was convicted in August 2014 of multiple counts of felony breaking and entering. He was convicted in November 2013 on charges of felony second-degree kidnapping, felony breaking and entering, and felony larceny.

Crawford remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.
