Joe Williams of Faith provided this aerial photograph of Granite Quarry School from the late 1950s. Behind the two-story portion of the school is the gymnasium, whose roof is barely visible. And farther back, near the school buses sits the band room on the left and the Future Farmers of America structure on the right. The water tower at center right is no longer there. Williams graduated from Granite Quarry High in 1959. He says there was always a big Easter Monday celebration on the school grounds, and in this picture, you can barely make out the Ferris wheel to the left of the school. The grandstand at Staton Field (just above and left of the school) has been rebuilt since this picture was taken. Part of the school is still today’s Granite Quarry Elementary School.
