These boys are long grown, but it’s a good chance folks in southern Rowan County still know members of the Landis Little Firemen baseball team from 1960. Dr. Randy Lassiter provided this photograph in advance of Rowan Museum Inc.’s June 16 special event ‘Batter Up: A Salute to Southern Rowan Baseball,’ to be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the China Grove Roller Mill, 308 N. Main St., China Grove. The day’s proceeds go toward operating expenses and maintenance of the roller mill. Sponsorships are available.. For more information on how to contribute or on the day itself, contact the museum at 704-633-5946. The exhibit on southern Rowan baseball will be housed at the roller mill into the fall.
