One of the most exciting bids is to have partner open the bidding with 2C. What is the correct response? It is the advice of experts that the only appropriate response is 2D unless you hold 8 HCP and a suit with 5 cards 3 of which are honors. Then and only then can you bid that suit. By bidding 2D you are waiting for partner to further describe his hand and are not necessarily going for a game contract.If your response to 2C is anything but 2D, your partnership is committed to a game or slam contract.
