Wayne Woodruff, a collector of old photographs, furnished this picture of East Spencer’s Dunbar High School basketball team from the 1947-48 season. Information for the photograph was provided by Sam Wiley and Addie Hargrave. The team was coached by Harry Koontz, husband of Elizabeth Duncan Koontz, for whom several things in Rowan County are named, including an elementary school.
