Rowan weather: More heat, but a change is on the way

We’ll get a little break from the heat this weekend, with highs in the lower 80s and a better chance of rain. But today will be hot, with a high of 89 and a heat index in the upper 90s.
Some folks saw a brief rain shower this morning, and there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. It will be partly sunny with east wind around 5 mph this afternoon. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.
Tonight also has a 30 percent chance of showers and storms, mainly before 7 p.m. It will be partly cloudy and 71, with light south wind.
Friday is a different story — with a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Before that, it will be partly sunny and 88. Wind will be from the west southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. A tenth to quarter inch of rain is expected, with higher totals in thunderstorms.
Friday night also has a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, It will be mostly cloudy and 71, with light north northeast wind. A half to three-quarters inch of rain is possible.
Saturday has a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, starting in the morning. It will be mostly cloudy and 81. Winds will be from the northeast at 7-11 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph.
The chance of rain drops to 20 percent Saturday night, with a low of 63.
Sunday will be mostly sunny and 83, with another low of 63.
Monday starts to warm back up. It will be sunny and 86, with a low of 67.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny and 90, with a low of 69.
And Wednesday will be mostly sunny and 93.
