Book bag giveaway

The second annual Whammy Book Bag Giveaway will be held July 29 at Kelsey Scott Park. The giveaway promotes ending gun violence in memory of Daquan Robertson and Anthony Gill.

The event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and features several contests and activities, in addition to the giveaway. Parents must accompany children to receive a book bag.

Summer care available

The Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency is accepting applications for pre-school summer care. Children aged 3, 4 and 5 are eligible to receive summer care at the agency’s headquarters at the Price High School Center, 1300 West Bank St.
