Rowan weather: Still under a flash flood watch

UPDATE:  The flash flood watch has been extended to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3. Additional heavy rainfall is expected through the period.

This morning’s downpour might have slowed you down somewhat. We’re still under a flash flood watch until 8 a.m. Friday. Recent rains have flooded city streets and downed some trees.

Today has an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms again, with patchy fog hanging around until 10 a.m. The high will be 82, with south wind at 5-8 mph. A half to three-quarters inch of rain is possible.

Tonight’s chance of rain is 70 percent, with patchy fog showing up as early as 9 p.m. It will be cloudy and 69, with south southeast wind at 5-7 mph. Another quarter to half inch of rain is possible.

Again on Friday, we’ll have an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Fog will hang around until 11 a.m. The high will be 82, with south wind around 8 mph. A quarter to half inch of rain is expected.

Friday night’s chance of showers and storms is 60 percent. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of 69 and south wind around 5 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Saturday will have just a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. It will be mostly cloudy, but warmer, with a high of 86. Wind will be from the southwest around 5 mph. Saturday night has just a 20 percent chance of showers and storms. It will be mostly cloudy and 70.

Sunday chance of showers and storms is 30 percent, mostly after 11 a.m. It will be partly sunny and 88. The same chance of rain is possible Sunday night, with a low of 70 and mostly cloudy skies.

Monday will be mostly sunny and hot, with a high of 90. The low will be 71, with partly cloudy skies.

And then a chance of rain creeps back into the forecast. Tuesday’s chance is 30 percent, with more sun and a high of 90. The low will be 70.

Wednesday will have a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, and be partly sunny and 89.
