ROCKWELL — Nationally known country singer Rockie Lynne will be a guest performer at Organ Lutheran Church’s 10:30 a.m. service Aug. 26.
“Rockie will be singing his gospel songs along with some old gospel favorites,” said the Rev. Carlin Ours, pastor of the church, located at 1515 Organ Church Road. “A free-will offering will be taken up that day, and all are invited to the service.”
Lynne has appeared on “Good Morning, America,” CMT, GAC, the Grand Ole Opry “Live” and Fox News.
His debut single, “Lipstick,” spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s country singles chart.
“Good Morning, America” named him a “breakout artist.” Billboard Magazine tabbed him one of its “Most Likely to Succeed.” He has appeared on the summer concert series of “Good Morning, America.”
Lynne is a Statesville native and has been singing and songwriting since he was 14.
After high school, Lynne served three years in the Army in the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg. He started playing music in clubs after military service and earned an enthusiastic following with his live show and guitar-playing abilities.
A third of the proceeds from his recent album, “Songs for Soldiers,” benefits troop-related charities.
Lynne has said his inspiration for the album came from his 21-day tour of Afghanistan, Southeast Asia and the Persian Gulf, places where he and his band entertained U.S. troops.
Lynne is the founder of Tribute to the Troops (www.tributetothetroops.org).
Lynne also will be performing at Jesse’s Ride and Run on Sept. 22 at Organ Lutheran Church.
