SALISBURY — The Salisbury Planning Board approved two text amendments at its meeting Tuesday.
The board agreed to amend the land development ordinance provision by retooling the “institutional campus” district into a new “community interest and institution” district. The new district will include schools, libraries, VFW posts and churches.
The board also agreed to change its notification system for rezonings.
The city has been mailing notifications to residents who live 100 feet from a rezoning area. Communities across the state have been updating their systems to increase the distance for mail notifications. The city will now notify residents if they live within 500 feet of the rezoning area.
The next Planning Board meeting is scheduled at 4 p.m. Aug. 28 at Salisbury-Rowan Utilities, 1 Water St.
