SALISBURY — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two people who witnesses said tossed racist fliers in the Woodbridge Run neighborhood.
The material is from the group Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. The fliers list a Klan hotline and website address.
The photocopied fliers were in a plastic bag along with a couple of rocks that investigators believe were added for weight so the bag could be thrown from a vehicle.
The two suspects are white men who were in a white pickup, authorities said. They were wearing construction worker-type clothing, according to a witness who saw them.
Investigators talked with a number of people in Woodbridge Run, and it appears the fliers were put in a number of yards at homes of families of different races.
The fliers include what it says are statistics about the incarceration rate of black, white and Hispanic people.
