John Robert Miller Jr. and Barbara Dennis Miller of Salisbury celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 10, 2018. A surprise party with family and friends was held Aug. 12, 2018 at the Messinger Room at the Rowan Museum.

The Millers were united in marriage Aug. 10, 1968, at Grace Lutheran Church in Salisbury by the late Rev. Claude Deal. John was a highway safety patrol mechanic with the North Carolina Department of Crime and Public Safety and he retired as foreman of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol garage after 37 years of service. Barbara is a substitute teacher for the Rowan Salisbury School System.

The couple have two daughters, Amy Miller Hoffner and husband Keith of Salisbury and Emily Miller Barnette of Salisbury. They also have one granddaughter, Sophie Kate Hoffner.
