SALISBURY — Mayor Al Heggins said Monday that a resolution of reconciliation will not be discussed at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
The resolution addresses the 1906 lynchings of three men in Salisbury.
“There has been some productive discussion surrounding revisions to the resolution, but it does not appear that a consensus has been reached,” Heggins said in an email.
During their Aug. 7 meeting, City Council members agreed to draft a resolution that they all agreed on. If they couldn’t come to a consensus, the information would be sent to the Actions in Faith and Justice Committee to review and draft a recommended resolution, they decided.
The resolution had been listed on the council’s agenda for Tuesday.
The City Council meeting is at 5 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 217 S. Main St.
