Blotter: Police arrest man for the murder of his father

SALISBURY — Juan Renaldo Chunn was arrested for first-degree murder for the death of his father on Friday.
Chunn, 49, was charged in June with beating his Eugene Milton Chunn to death. Police have been looking for Juan Chunn for the April 19 murder.
Eugene Chunn, a 72-year-old retired mill worker, was found dead inside of his residence at 816 E. Franklin St. He had mutiple blunt trauma injuries to his head, arms and chest.
Emergency responders were called to Eugene Chunn’s home after receiving an initial report he had suffered from cardiac arrest. Salisbury Fire Department and Rowan County EMS found him dead.
Family said Eugene Chunn lived alone, but his son had been staying at the Franklin Street home for a few weeks.
Juan Chunn is being held at Rowan County Jail as he awaits his Dec. 25 court date.

Jeffrey Scott Usher, 38, of Salisbury was arrested Saturday for felony possession of methamphetamine. He is being held under a $2,000 bond. His court date is scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m.
Trent Andrew Smith, 39, of Salisbury, was arrested for assault on a female, interference with emergency communication and communicating threats on Saturday. Police said he pushed, threw the victim on the ground and struck her. He is being held under a $15,000 bond with a court date of Oct. 1
Ellis Cole Misenheimer, 28, of Richfield, was arrested for possession of controlled substances, methamphetamine, klonopin and marijuana, on Sept. 8. She is held under a $1,000 bond and has a court date for Sept. 11 at 9 a.m.
Steven Todd Hunsucker, 46, of Salisbury, was arrested for robbery with a dangerous weapon. Police said he he stole a medicine bottle of placebo oxycodone after handing the pharmacist a note stating he was going to kill everyone while indicating he had a weapon. He is being held under a $50,000 bond.
Lindsey Baker Johnson, 36, of East Spencer, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance, clonazepam.05 mg. She was also arrested for larceny for stealing women’s accessories and clothing from the Salisbury Walmart. She is being held under a bond of $2,500 and has a court date set for Tuesday.
