‘Unresponsive’ man has rough awakening

STATESVILLE — Iredell County deputies have arrested a man who they said passed out at a gas station, came to and tried to ram the building.
Michael Bruce Adams, 42, of 2424 Statesville Highway, Mooresville, was placed in the Iredell County jail under a $22,500 bond on multiple drug charges.
According to a report from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to 939 Turnersburg Highway on Sunday to check on a man who was unresponsive. While en route, they were advised the man had awakened and was trying to drive his vehicle into the side of the store.
Deputies said Adams appeared to be intoxicated.
Deputies got Adams out of his vehicle and found him in possession of a substantial amount of methamphetamine.
In his vehicle, they found more meth, marijuana, prescription pills not prescribed to Adams and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Adams was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule IV drug, marijuana possession and driving while impaired.
He also faced an outstanding order for his arrest on a probation violation.
