SALISBURY — A Salisbury man has been charged with touching himself inappropriately in front of an 11-year-old boy six years ago.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Scot Cole Zimmerman, 47, of the 2400 block of Overview Road, with felony indecent liberties with a child.

Zimmerman knew the child before the incidents, authorities said. The boy told his mother that in 2012 and 2014, Zimmerman performed a sex act that the boy would mimic.

The incidents were reported to authorities on April 25. Zimmerman turned himself in Friday.

He was issued a $1,000 secured bond and has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.
