CHINA GROVE – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will start replacing the Bostian Road bridge with a culvert next week near China Grove.
“The aging pipe will be replaced with a new culvert to help improve safety, drainage and longevity to the roadway,” said Larry Shaver, DOT Division 9 senior assistant resident engineer.
Work will be on the bridge that crosses Cold Water Creek starting at 8 a.m. Monday. The road will reopen by Jan. 22, weather permitting.
Drivers can detour using Old Beatty Ford Road, North Cannon Boulevard and Daugherty Road.
DOT encourages motorists to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.

NC 8 bridge replacement
DOT contract crews will start replacing the aging N.C. 8 bridge that crosses Lick Creek on Wednesday in Davidson County.
The project is part of DOT’s bridge program to improve the condition of bridges statewide, said Richard Ho, assistant resident engineer.
Part of the road near the intersection of Bringle Ferry Road will close at 8 a.m. Wednesday until work is complete, no later than July 2019.
Drivers will be able to access all points leading to the closure but will be detoured in both directions using Hunt and Denton roads.
