Can I bid?
You always want to find a reason to open the bidding to get your two cents worth in quickly. So what do you do with a marginal hand? Are there guidelines to help you?
As with most things, there is a guideline many use. The old Rule of 20 to the rescue. Just add the number of cards in your 2 longest suits to your High Card Points. If that number is greater than 20, then open your hand. As always be aware of vulnerability and be sure partner knows what you may be doing.
Because of the Thanksgiving holiday there is only one game’s results to report to you. Winning the Nov. 16 Evergreen game: N/S 1st Ruth Bowles and Dick Brisbin, 2nd Judy Hurder and Toni Iossi, 3rd Nancy Brandt and Tom Johnson;
E/W 1st Genny Mozolak and Chuck Rimer, 2nd Patsy Reynolds and Pat Macon, 3rd BettyBonner Steele and Rosemary Sokolowski.
When we return to our Wednesday game we will be playing in the big room to the right of the front desk. Because of a scheduling conflict, our Wednesday game will meet there for the next three weeks. The Friday games will remain in our usual room.
Once again, don’t forget the Christmas party Dec. 6 at the Monterrey Restaurant at 6:30 p.m.
Last, I have two STaC games scheduled: Wednesday, Dec.r 12 and Friday, Dec. 14, giving you all a great chance to earn higher points.
I look forward to seeing you all again.
