The Spencer Board of Aldermen will meet next Tuesday to discuss plans to replace Kevin Jones after his November resignation.

Jones resigned after he was elected to the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education on Nov. 6.

“They definitely gained a jewel,” said Town Manager Terence Arrington.

Arrington said the aldermen moved at their November meeting to appoint a replacement for Jones. After consulting with the town attorney and getting input from residents, the decision may change.

The board will discuss plans to fill the vacancy during its 7 p.m. Dec. 11 meeting in the Spencer Municipal Building, 600 S. Salisbury Ave.

Arrington said a public hearing may be considered before an appointment is made.

No timeline for filling the vacancy has been established.
