Letter: Salisbury is still the place for us

Robert and I would like to thank Susan Shinn Turner, Elizabeth Cook, Jon Lakey, Mark Wineka, The Salisbury Post, and Salisbury Magazine for recent publications regarding our business, The Perfect Rose, and our home. These two publications celebrate such diversity in their content. Eleven years ago, we had to make a decision to stay in Salisbury and headquarter our business here, or move to Charlotte. We chose to stay, and it was the perfect choice.

We ran into individuals recently who have made contributions to our lives and business. This season of sharing, gratitude and joy is a great opportunity to thank them. Bill Burgin and Donna Smith of RBSA Architects welcomed me to Salisbury with my first job out of college in 1986. They reinforced the work ethic instilled by my parents and continued to shape my future with lessons on fairness, diligence, respect, loyalty, generosity and just plain hard work! I could not have asked for better mentors.

We also caught up with Mark Lewis, who worked at Bank of North Carolina (now Pinnacle Financial) when we started The Perfect Rose. Mark was responsible for putting together our first small business loan. We can’t thank him enough for believing in our vision! The staff at Pinnacle continue to service our account well.

Another shout out to Melonie Beaver of Piedmont Floral Galleries. Last year as the magazine photo shoot approached, I presented Melonie with a ridiculous color scheme, budget and schedule, and she came through with amazing front door decor which exceeded expectations.

Finally, we owe a huge thank you to our Salisbury customers. They embraced us and continue to be the heart of our company. They, along with all of our amazing friends and neighbors around town and in Forest Glen, are the reason “Salisbury is still the place” for us!
