Michael Anderson Wertz, 19, of Salisbury was charged Friday with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle following a December collision.

The accident occurred Dec. 4 just before 11 p.m. in the 1000 block of Mooresville Road. Jeffrey Alan Null II was attempting to cross from the Food Lion to the Rushco.

According to the incident report, Wertz saw Null attempting to cross from his left. Null appeared to stop, and Wertz attempted to swerve right to avoid him.

Null moved right as well, resulting in the crash. He was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
