SALISBURY — Rowan County investigators are looking for a man who stole another person’s identity, opened a bank account and rented a truck he filled with items bought using the victim’s information.
A report for identity theft was taken Nov. 25 after the suspect compromised the victim’s personal information, including driver’s license and credit card information. The suspect used the victim’s personal information to open numerous credit card accounts.
Rowan investigators said the suspect also opened an account at Fort Sill National Bank in Spring Lake.
The suspect rented a U-Haul truck in Salisbury using the victim’s information. Officials said the man went to Sam’s Club at 646 River Highway, Mooresville, and bought electronic devices using the victim’s information.
The suspect loaded a lawn mower in the U-Haul that he bought from the Bobcat Co. in Fayetteville. He used a fraudulent North Carolina driver’s license to buy the lawn mower.
The suspect was accompanied by a black woman passenger in the U-Haul at the time of the lawn mower purchase.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Kyle Youngo of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8683.
