GRANITE QUARRY — The Granite Quarry Board of Aldermen will hold a called meeting at 9 a.m. Friday to initiate the process for finding an interim town manager.
The board learned last week that Town Manager Phil Conrad is resigning effective Feb. 11. Conrad has been town manager since December 2015.
According to the meeting agenda distributed Wednesday, the aldermen will discuss an interim position only. Things to be considered will be the length of the interim period, recommendations for the job, duties of an interim manager, pay and the need for someone having a background in budget preparations.
Bobby Williams, project manager for the Centralina Council of Governments, met earlier this week with Mayor Bill Feather and Alderman John Linker to talk about the search process.
Williams has offered to make contacts with people who might be available for the interim job and also help the town in the search for a permanent town manager.
