Fred Stamper and Edna Mae Royal Stamper of China Grove celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary Jan. 21, 2019. A dinner in their honor was given by their children and held at the home of their daughter, Nora Patterson, on Jan. 19, 2019. Twenty-five guests were in attendance.

The Stampers were united in marriage on Jan. 21, 1950, in Wilkes County. Fred retired from Cannon Mills, where he was a fixer, in 1984. Edna retired from Cannon Mills, where she was a supervisor, in 1994.

The Stampers have seven children, Rick Stamper of Landis, Ronnie Stamper of Georgia, Randy Stamper of Salisbury, Donald Williams of Rockwell, Pat Gaskins of Mooresville, Nora Patterson of China Grove and the late Judy Gooch of Stem who died in November 2014. They also have 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
