Man shot, killed in Atrium NorthEast parking lot

CONCORD — A man was shot to death in the parking lot of Atrium Health NorthEast around 1 p.m. today, and police have another man in custody.
Concord Police got the call that someone had been shot in the parking lot of the medical center, at 920 Church St. N. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Cabarrus paramedics were in the ambulance by of the hospital near the incident and provided immediate medical care. They then moved him into the hospital, but he died from the injuries in the shooting.
Officers on scene found an individual is believed to be responsible for the shooting and he is in custody and being interviewed. The investigation revealed that the suspect and victim knew each other.
Both parties were in the hospital parking lot adjacent to the emergency room entrance when some type of physical altercation occurred that resulted in the shooting. Investigators are still reviewing all available evidence in this case and interviewing witnesses.

The deceased is identified as Damon Fard Bruce of Burning Embers Lane, SW Concord.
