Rowan County representatives, senator assigned to General Assembly committees

SALISBURY — Less than a month ago, the North Carolina General Assembly convened for its long session.
For the 2019-20 session, Sen. Carl Ford, R-76, is a member of the Appropriations Committee on General Government and Information Technology, Health Care, State and Local Government and Transportation.
Rep. Julia Howard, R-77, is on multiple standing or select committees, including Banking, Commerce, Energy and Public Utilities, Finance, Health, Insurance and Judiciary. She serves as vice chairwoman of the Banking Committee and senior chairwoman on Finance.
Howard is co-chairwoman of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Unemployment Insurance. She also is a member of the Joint Legislative Commission on Government Operations and Revenue Laws Study Committee.
Rep. Harry Warren, R-76, is chairman of both the State and Local Government and Finance committees. He also is vice chairman of the Elections and Ethics Law, while also serving as a member for the Commerce, Insurance and Transportation committees.
“Assignment to these committees give the folks in Rowan County great representation across the spectrum of the legislature,” Warren said in a statement. “I’m very happy to have earn the appointments I received and to have been given the new committee assignments I requested. I thank Speaker (Tim) Moore and the committee for their work.”
Serving under Howard, Warren is vice chaimanr of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Unemployment Insurance. He is also a member of the nonstanding committee Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on the state lottery.
Rep. Larry Pittman, R-83, is chairman of the Homelessness, Foster Care and Dependency committee. He is a member of the several standing or select committees: Appropriations, Appropriations-General Government, Appropriations-Information Technology, Education-Community Colleges, Education-University and Wildlife Resources.
He is not assigned to any nonstanding committees.
