Numerous road closings begin next week

North Carolina Department of Transportation will close numerous roads around the county to replace storm drain culverts and evaluate soil conditions.
The DOT will close Emanuel Church Road (SR2338) in order to replace a storm drain culvert that crosses under the road. The dates are Feb. 25 through March 1. The road is open this week. There is an area of broken pavement between Old Beatty Ford Road and Oliver Road.
The location is between Oliver Road and Shade Valley Road. The GPS coordinates are N 35.5037, W 80.3811. The nearest address is 3047 Emanuel Church Road. The road will be closed both day and night for the duration of the work. The work will take three working days.
The detour route will be Old Beatty’s Ford Road / Rockwell Road (Rowan) / Emanuel Road (Cabarrus) / Kluttz Road (Cabarrus) / Mt Olive Road (Cabarrus) / Emanuel Church Road (Rowan). Below is a link showing the detour route.

NCDOT maintenance will closing two locations on Scercy Road Feb. 27 through March 1 in order to replace two storm drain culverts that cross under the roadway. The structures have failed and storm runoff water is not passing under the roadway correctly. It is essential that these are repaired in order to prevent damage to the roadway and adjacent properties.
The first closure on Scercy Road occurred as planned. The location is between Old Concord Road and Lentz Road. The nearest address is 1070 Scercy Road. The road will be closed only during the hours that work is occurring. The pavement will remain broken at the location, however, the road will be reopened at the completion of work.
The second closure on Scercy Road is now scheduled to begin on Feb. 27 and will complete March 1. The location is between Old Concord Road and Lentz Road. The nearest address is 380 Scercy Road. The road will be closed both day and night for the duration of the work.

NCDOT maintenance will close St. Matthews Church Road (SR2140) to evaluate the causeway on Feb. 26 in order to evaluate the soil conditions near and on the St. Matthews Road causeway. It is essential that these tests are done in order to make plans for the future at the St. Matthews Road causeway.
The closure is between South Fishermans Lane and Ribelin Road. The nearest intersection is South Fishermans Lane. The road will be closed only during the times that work is being done in the roadway.

The closure is between Brown Acres Road and Oddie Road. The nearest address is 5275 Fish Pond Road. The road will be closed only during the times that work is being done in the roadway. Broken pavement may remain for a few days after the work is completed.
