Blotter: Man charged with marijuana possession at traffic checkpoint

SALISBURY — Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies charged a man with simple possession of marijuana while conducting a traffic checkpoint in Granite Quarry.
Hugo Enrique Osorio, 25, was charged Thursday with simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
The stop was in the 1000 block of Byrd Road and Faith Road.
In other Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:
• A man reported a burglary Thursday in the 500 block of Cannon Farm Road, China Grove.
• A man reported Thursday that items were stolen from his property in the 100 block of Paige Drive.
• A man reported a stolen firearm Thursday in the 100 block of Cross Creek Drive, Gold Hill.
• Vernon Jerome Thompson, 43, was charged Thursday with felony breaking and entering at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office.
• Amy Renae Davis, 48, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor larceny in the 1800 block of Henderson Grove Church Road.
• Justin Ray Merritt, 28, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor simple assault in the 2200 block of Jacob Bost Road.
In Salisbury Police Department reports:
• A man reported that a vehicle was stolen late Friday in the 1100 block of West Bank Street.
• A man reported Saturday that someone tried to pick his pocket in the 100 block of East Kerr Street.
• A woman reported an assault Sunday sin the 100 block of Clancy Street.
• A man reported vandalism Sunday in the 200 block of Pearl Street.
• A woman reported Sunday that someone stole items from her vehicle parked at Hurley Family YMCA, 828 W. Jake Alexander Blvd.
• A woman reported Sunday that her vehicle was broken into and items were taken while parked at Hurley Family YMCA.
• A man reported Sunday that someone fired a BB gun at his home in the 1400 block of East Colonial Drive.
• An unlocked vehicle was broken into and ransacked at Livingstone College, but the suspects were scared off before taking anything.
• Michael Anthony Curzi, 20, was charged Monday with felony larceny of a firearm in the 300 block of Broad Street, Rockwell.
