SALISBURY — A mother left her 3-year-old daughter home alone for hours, according to the Salisbury Police Department.
Authorities were alerted by the child’s father that the girl was by herself at home.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Chloe Shuping, who is expected to be charged with misdemeanor child abuse.
The father flagged down an officer Monday and told him he had received a call from Shuping, his ex-wife, asking that he pick her up.
He asked her where their daughter was, and Shuping told the father the girl was at home asleep. The father told Shuping he would not pick her up.
Shuping called her ex-husband a second time to ask for a ride, and he again asked where the child was. The father said Shuping said the girl was at home by herself at the West Side Manor apartment complex.
The father went to the apartment and could see the girl looking out an upstairs window. He called police, and officers were able to coax the child to the front door.
The child was not injured.
Police tried calling Shuping twice but she did not answer.
Police said the girl’s grandmother dropped the child off at home about 7 p.m. Sunday. The father said he Face-timed his former wife about 2 a.m. Monday, and she called him about 7:30 a.m. to pick her up.
