JON C. LAKEY/SALISBURY POST The blooms of an azeala were filled with frozen percipition on Tuesday morning. The near freezing temperature plus a little percipitation made for an interesting Tuesday weather wise. A short snow event with slight accumilation made for a pleasant diversion to a dreary overcast morning. The warmer waters on parts of High Rock Lake also produced a wispy fog in the cool air that was carried by a steady breeze. Salisbury, NC 4/2/19

SALISBURY — Rowan County got a light coating of snow Tuesday morning, but a meteorologist with the National Weather Service said it would not last beyond the day.
Snow was also reported in Rockwell, Faith and other parts of the region.
“The snow that is falling is a coating, mainly on the grass and colder surfaces. Things will taper down in the next few hours,” said meteorologist Chris Horne.
Horne was right. Temperatures rebounded about 50 degrees through the day.
Horne said the forecast calls for warmer temperatures later in the week. The temperature is expected to be about 70 by Thursday, Horne said.
The snow was the result of an area of low pressure around the South Carolina coast. Moisture was drawn northward.
Horne said there have been only a handful of times when Rowan County saw snow in the spring.
Snow was also reported in the Charlotte region and South Carolina.
